Total Credits: 3 including 3 Category I CE
This workshop will present a comprehensive look at anxiety disorders including panic, phobias, generalized anxiety, and social anxiety disorders. While the content of the course is all evidence-informed, the emphasis will be not on research findings but on how to assess and treat these disorders in the real clinical world. We will explore the factors that maintain and exacerbate disorder-specific symptoms, not stress management or general techniques for calming. The model is an integration of meta-cognitive, CBT, ACT, and other relevant psychodynamic and biological contributions. We will also take a look at distinguishing anxiety disorders in the context of co-occurring mood, obsessive-compulsive , trauma and substance use disorders. The underlying project is to help the patient to change their relationship with anxious experience so that anxiety no longer dictates choices or limits flexibility.
