The University of Maryland School of Social Work Office of Continuing Professional Education is authorized by the Board of Social Work Examiners in Maryland to sponsor social work continuing education programs and maintains full responsibility for this program. We are also approved to offer CE to Licensed Counselors and Psychologists. Clinicians in other states should verify with their licensing Board. Dr. Steven Deck has over 30 years of experience developing and implementing public health, environmental health and safety, risk management, international safety and security, emergency management, and continuity of operation programs in higher education and in the biomedical and pharmaceutical industries. Dr. Deck played a key role in UMB’s COVID-19 response and recovery process. He has held various leadership positions throughout his career and has led or been a key contributor to numerous institutional initiatives. In his current role, he leads the development of a new office of public and occupational health at the university. He holds a doctorate in management, an MBA, and a bachelor’s of science degree in safety and industrial hygiene management. Dr. Deck also holds multiple professional certifications in the safety and health and risk management fields.
