Jonalyn Denlinger, MSW


Jonalyn Denlinger is an independent consultant with over a decade of social work, nonprofit, and foundation experience. She is currently focused on organizational development, program design and evaluation, macro social work practice, access to capital strategies, and group facilitation. Her work over the years has primarily focused on: neighborhood development, public education, philanthropic impact investing, small business support, and social program evaluation. In addition to consulting, Jonalyn is an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work in the Masters of Social Work program. There she advises students as well as teaches courses such as: Program Development, Program Evaluation, and Introduction to Macro Practice. Prior to her current role, Jonalyn worked in the philanthropic sector in a variety of capacities. She was a Program Officer at the Baltimore Community Foundation for nearly 7 years, investing in intergenerational programming, social capital building strategies, place based community driven development, and public education reform. Additionally she advocated for long term investments in these community driven, community owned efforts and supporting those efforts with financial capital and technical assistance. Jonalyn also served as the Director of Member Engagement at the Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers, where she led the organization’s policy efforts, the emerging leader strategy, as well as the impact investing strategy. This included partnership with local and national partners to shift the conversation from traditional grantmaking to strategic and responsive investments in communities in Maryland. Most recently, before launching independently, she was a senior consultant at Frontline Solutions, an organizational management consulting firm supporting foundations and nonprofits in their work nationally. Jonalyn holds a B.A. in Spanish and Liberal Arts with minors in English and Psychology from Eastern Mennonite University. She holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Business Fundamentals from University of Baltimore. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Business Administration at University of Denver.
