Description

Inside the Session: Holding Space in Psychedelic Therapy (with Virtual Simulation) is a two-day immersive training designed to support practitioners in developing the ethical, relational, and practical competencies required to prepare for and hold supportive space during psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy (PAP). The program intentionally combines interactive instruction, simulation-based learning, and facilitated reflection to strengthen participants’ confidence and readiness prior to working with real clients.

The program begins with a three-hour live, interactive workshop—Sacred and Safe Passages: Preparing and Holding a Supportive Space in Psychedelic Journeys—which introduces foundational principles of PAP preparation and session support. Participants will explore building and maintaining a strong therapeutic relationship, establishing safety and containment, navigating ethical boundaries and consent (including considerations related to touch), the intentional use of music and setting, and strategies for responding to emotional, psychological, and physical experiences that may arise during psychedelic sessions. The workshop also emphasizes cultural humility and intersectionality, underscoring the importance of inclusive, respectful care in a rapidly evolving field.

Following the workshop, participants engage in structured virtual roleplay simulations that present complex and challenging clinical scenarios. These simulations allow participants to practice in-the-moment decision-making, therapeutic presence, and responsiveness within a controlled learning environment.

What to expect from the Praxis simulation experience:

Practice real therapeutic skills with AI-driven patient personas in a safe, immersive environment. Praxis lets you rehearse high-stakes moments before you're in the room with a real patient — navigating resistance, holding space, responding to intensity. You'll receive immediate feedback on your pacing, tone, and intervention choices, so you can see what worked, what didn't, and where to focus next. Each session builds on the last, helping you develop skills you can apply immediately.

On the second day, participants reconvene for a two-hour facilitated simulation debrief. This reflective session provides space to process experiences, ask advanced questions, deepen ethical and clinical understanding, and integrate learning across both the didactic and experiential components of the program.

Participants must complete the simulation to be eligible to attend the debrief session.
