Please join us for this two- day, in-person workshops that introduces the fundamentals theory, structure and techniques of cognitive-behavioral therapy for depressive and anxiety disorders. Participants will learn to develop a cognitive- behavioral case conceptualization for clients; plan treatment on the basis of a case conceptualization, establish and maintain an effective therapeutic alliance, and use effective cognitive and behavioral strategies to motivate clients to engage in the goals and tasks of therapy,, modify their maladaptive thinking and behavioral patterns, and solve problems effectively. This workshop includes experiential exercises, video of specific strategies, and ample opportunity to practice skills in small groups.
Dr. Sposato received her Psy.D. in clinical psychology from La Salle University. She has had intensive training in various Cognitive Behavioral treatments, including the utilization of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Suicidality, and Substance Use. Dr. Sposato gained experience utilizing CBT in her work at The University of Pennsylvania at The Aaron T. Beck Psychopathology Research Center (ATB-PRC) (2009-2014) as well as the Center for Cognitive Therapy (2009-2011). During that time, her primary research interests were in the refinement and dissemination of empirically supported treatments and she worked on The Beck Initiative, a large- scale dissemination project involved in consulting with and training community therapists on the implementation of Cognitive Therapy with adults and children. Under the supervision of Dr. Gregory Brown at The University of Pennsylvania (a faculty member of the ATB-PRC), she also worked on various projects within the VA system, including training therapists in the VA to use CBT to target Depression and Suicidality as well as with veterans struggling with homelessness. She began serving as an Adjunct faculty member at The Beck Institute in 2012 and continues to enjoy training and supervising mental health professionals in the implementation of CBT. She also serves as an Adjunct faculty member in the Psy.D. program in Clinical Psychology at La Salle University (2011-Current). Her primary clinical interests at this time involve the integration of CBT and Acceptance-based interventions and she has been in private practice since 2012.
