Description

It is estimated that about 17% of youth experience a mental health disorder.  Psychotropic drugs are a widely used modality to manage symptoms and improve functioning in this population.  While they may be very effective, they may carry significant short- and long-term risks.  Patients, family members, and advocates all play a key role in ensuring safe and effective treatment with psychotropic drugs.  This seminar will provide an overview of the drug classes used to treat behavioral health disorders in youth and identify strategies to mitigate treatment risks.
